Who should join the Community?

Persons involved (or even aspire to be) in the film and television industry in various capacities from A-Z.

What is the Community about, and what function(s) will it serve?

The Community purpose is multifaceted:

  • Enable members to network, engage freely and collaborate with peer professionals in a protected environment.
  • Update members of upcoming workshops and keynote speeches.
  • Provide a platform for members to exhibit portfolios.
  • Showcase featured projects, contributors and new project commissions.
  • Keep members apprised of relevant industry news, events, and Cooperative announcements (eg. location availability, equipment acquisitions, etc.).
  • Provide resources required for responsible production.

Does it cost to join the Community?

No, it is free to join.

How is the Community different from Club UHD*?

Community registration is free, and some privileges may be reserved for Club UHD members. Participation in Club UHD (ie. collaborating on a project, equipment and facility access, and being remunerated for your contribution) is exclusive to paying subscribers.

What are projects?

Projects are synonymous with VIVE original television series. Group members are synonymous with crew.

– Master classes, training clinics & workshops –

Who should attend master classes, workshops & training clinics?

Film and television post-graduates and professionals interested in unprecedented exposure to education, equipment and facilities ultimately enriching their core competencies through experience on real UHD television series.

How much do master classes cost?

Prices vary according to location, duration and subject(s).

Are there multi-buy discounts?

Yes, when and where applicable, participants may be able to pay a reduced price for multiple master classes and/or for multiple reservations to the same master class. Terms and conditions may apply.

How much do training clinics cost?

On occasions VLN Academy organises manufacturer equipment training clinics that only VLN Community members with complete profiles may attend for free. Spaces are limited.

– 4K TV PRDXN Training –

Do I need any experience of any kind to partake in 4K TV & Film PRDXN Training?

No, none whatsoever. Whilst having experience in any given discipline of video production may prove useful as a reference, there are approaches to creating broadcast-quality (high end) television series which are specific to UHD and long-form factual entertainment. UHD Academy’s 4K TV & Film PRDXN Training curriculum will offer you the opportunities to gain hands on experience that will prepare you for more advanced, in-depth.

Who should consider applying/attending?

Basically, anyone with an interest in film and television production, whether it be a newfound or burgeoning passion or even film/television school graduates keen to enhance heir skill sets. Aficionados may want to consider enrolling in VLN Academy Master Classes which emphasise specific disciplines, accordingly.

Will I be required to purchase/own or rent any equipment or software?

No, everything necessary shall be provided for. Personal computer/laptop and external storage device ownership would be useful, however. If you are considering an equipment purchase, please consult a UHD Academy mentor for advice and recommendations.

How many trainees partake at once?

Class sizes are limited to 25 students (maximum) per city per session, hence the importance of claiming a spot sooner rather than later.

When will 4K TV & Film PRDXN Boot Camps transpire?

Beginning in June 2018, training will be held in different cities on different dates over time according to interest.

In what cities will 4K TV & Film PRDXN Training be offered?

Dallas (DFW), New York (NYC), and Los Angeles (LAX) for the foreseeable future.

Is UHD Academy or its 4K TV & Film PRDXN Training accredited?

No, VIVE Network’s interest lies with training professionals to ultimately work primarily within the UHD TV & film realm creating content for its worldwide Entertainment Everywhere platform.

How much will it cost?

Moreover, travel expenses and accommodations shall not be provided for as part of the tuition. Attendees shall be expected to make their own arrangements.

Why is a deposit required (necessary)?

We require a deposit as a token of commitment so that we do not waste any time analysing applications submitted insincerely. However, deposits are fully refundable in cases of denied applications.

How soon after submitting my application will I be notified of my acceptance or denial?

Assuming that your application is complete and all submission criteria have been met, we shall endeavour to give you an answer either way within 14 days.

How are slots allocated?

Actually, positions are allocated on a first come, first serve basis, yet they are contingent upon payment in full to secure your position 100%.

If my application is accepted, how long will I have to make payment to secure my position?

Fifty percent (50%) shall be payable within two (2) weeks of acceptance, and the balance (less the deposit) shall be payable in full no less than one (1) week ahead of the boot camp commencement.

Who is the company behind Club UHD?

VIVE Network LLC (hereinafter referred to as “VIVE”), a company registered in Dallas, Texas, USA.

Why does VIVE offer this service to film & television production professionals?

It is VIVE’s mission to democratise access to premium UHD education and production equipment in an effort to afford creators the opportunities to join the UHD Initiative and produce high end, episodic factual entertainment and films to distribute and monetise on its prolific global digital platform.

Who can join Club UHD?

Film and television production professionals, including production houses, are invited to apply to Club UHD. Applications are evaluated based upon experience, authenticity (identification verification), and references.

In what cities will Club UHD be offered?

Initially Dallas, TX and Los Angeles, CA.

How much will it cost?

The monthly membership shall be USD$500.00 plus sales tax.

Why is there a mandatory $100.00 (USD) deposit?

The deposit is analogous to a reservation and signifies sincerity of interest. If an application is declined, the deposit is fully refundable. However, if an application is accepted, the deposit shall be applied to the first month’s membership fee upon membership activation.

How soon after submitting my application will I be notified of my acceptance or denial?

Assuming that your application is complete and all submission criteria have been met, we shall endeavour to give you an answer either way within 14 days.

What if my application is accepted?

You shall be notified of your application’s acceptance and added to an activation queue for your respective location.

What does 'membership activation' mean?

Memberships are activated in order of application (first-come, first-served), and activation refers to the time at which the monthly membership fees are triggered and the services become available.

Is there a minimum term of membership?

Yes, the minimum active membership term is twelve (12) months, and cancellations shall be subject to a thirty (30) day advance notification.

My I share membership and split the cost with a crew?

Yes, a maximum of five (5) individuals may split the cost and privileges of a single membership thereby making it even more affordable and practical. In fact, VLN encourages members to find crews with whom to work and share the experience.

What does the term 'crew up' mean?

Basically, it’s an idea of finding other competent production professionals with whom you can collaborate and work to create episodic entertainment to showcase on VLN’s platform. It’s recommended for the reasons of not only sharing the burden of expense and responsibility, but also to keep oneself accountable to a team.

How does VIVE Community and Club UHD differ from other film & television production professional member sites?

VIVE Community is the only social network directly associated with a UHD TV network and whose purpose is to serve the greater common good. Although it is free to join VIVE Community, Club UHD membership begets exclusive privileges reserved for paying members, such as access to complimentary master classes, UHD equipment, stare-of-the-art facilities, as well as series work and pilot pitches, not to mention air time and revenue share.
