After attending the University of Westminster Film School he raised the budget to follow explorer Michael Turner on an expedition to Senegal and the Cape Verde Islands and make a short film about his efforts to document the landing places of Sir Francis Drake. This film was so well received that the BBC commissioned him to complete the film which included a voyage to Panama to attempt to locate and raise the coffin of Sir Francis Drake. This expedition failed but the subsequent film In Drake’s Wake was shown on BBC2. His next film was The Gold Plane, again for BBC2. Narrated by John Nettles, this 50-minute film followed the quest to prove that a plane crash in 1944 was the work of sabotage to prevent the secrets of D-Day being revealed to General Charles de Gaulle in Algiers. Since then he has made several historical documentaries which include Spilt Blood, In Search of the King, The Falklands War – The Real Thing, People’s War, Industrial Revelations – Best of British and Secrets Beneath Our Feet.

Do I need any experience of any kind to partake in the 4K film & TV PRDXN Pro Training Program?
Yes, at least a minimum would be preferable. Possessing experience in any given discipline of video production may prove useful as a reference, as there are approaches to creating broadcast-quality (high end) television series which are specific to UHD and long-form factual entertainment. That said, VLN Academy’s 4K Film & TV PRDXN Boot Camp curriculum will offer you the opportunities to gain hands on experience that will prepare you for this more advanced, in-depth Pro Training Program offered separately and subsequently to the initial boot camp. Full credit for the Boot Camp payment will be applied against the Pro Training Program fees.
Who should consider applying/attending?
Basically, anyone with an interest in film and television production, whether it be a newfound or burgeoning passion or even film/television school graduates keen to enhance their skill sets and / or focus on specific disciplines, accordingly.
Will I be required to purchase/own or rent any equipment or software?
No, everything necessary shall be provided for.
How many openings are available?
The 4K TV & Film PRDXN Pro Training Program can accommodate up to 25 participants (maximum) per city at any given time, hence the importance of claiming a spot sooner rather than later.
How long will it take to complete the program?
That is entirely up to two factors: (1) the frequency of productions scheduled in your hub city and (2) your own availability to participate. As a guideline, we advise that participants allow a minimum of six months to complete the requisite production training to be considered as a professional for hire.
In what cities will the 4K TV & Film PRDXN Pro Training Program be offered?
Eventually, VLN Academy will offer its comprehensive, hands-on production training program in other cities, but for the foreseeable future, Pro Training shall be exclusively available in Austin, Dallas, and New York City.

No, VLN Academy’s interest lies with training professionals to ultimately work primarily within the UHD TV & film realm creating content for its worldwide Entertainment Everywhere platform, VIVE Lifestyle Network.
How much will it cost?
Participation shall cost $12,000 (USD) per participant. As stated above, full credit for participation in a 4K Film & TV PRDXN Boot Camp shall be applied, if applicable (i.e. $600-650). Moreover, travel expenses and accommodations shall not be provided for as part of the tuition. Attendees shall be expected to make their own arrangements.
Why is a deposit required (necessary)?
We require a deposit as a token of commitment so that we do not waste any time analysing applications submitted insincerely. However, deposits are fully refundable in cases of denied applications.
How soon after submitting my application will I be notified of my acceptance or denial?
Assuming that your application is complete and all submission criteria have been met, we shall endeavor to give you an answer either way within 14 days.
How are slots allocated?
Actually, positions are allocated on a first come, first serve basis, yet they are contingent upon payment in full to secure your position 100%.
If my application is accepted, how long will I have to make payment to secure my position?
Fifty percent (50%) shall be payable within two (2) weeks of acceptance, and the balance (less the deposit) shall be payable in full no less than one (1) week ahead of training commencement as agreed between you and VLN Academy.
What happens once I complete the requisite training?
You are eligible to be considered to work on VLN productions as a paid professional, although we make no guarantee and shall reserve the right of refusal based upon merit / skill proficiency.
